Updated: Oct 3, 2022

What happens when revolutionary new technology meets an American wood icon? Simply stated - a revolution! Check out this beautiful 14"x8" black walnut stave snare featuring the Welch Tuning System™ (WTS), exclusively from Outlaw Drums.

We are very excited to be collaborating with Outlaw Drums - their beautifully crafted shells meet our revolutionary WTS hardware to make one-of-a-kind works of art!

“...a majestic piece of art that has been designed, painted, and crafted through a combination of nature, man, and machine. A “one of a kind” collaboration that is pushing through the boundaries of just what we think a drum can do and just what we think a drum can be!”

From Salvaged Wood to Hand-crafted Drums

Outlaw Drums is a high-end boutique drum maker in the business of bringing ancient wood back to life! The company prides itself on the fact that each and every drum they build is handmade from start to finish. No two of their beautiful, expertly crafted drums are exactly the same; each has its own unique personality and charm.

Outlaw utilizes two building methods, stave and segmented construction, to bring out the tonal values of the various species of wood. All of the wood is hand-picked by Michael Outlaw to ensure only the finest drums are produced.

The company specializes in repurposing wood from old buildings, houses, floors, or anywhere in which the wood is of the highest quality and would otherwise be left to rot away.

Building drums with salvaged 200 to 600-year-old wood not only lessens the stress on our environment, but creates a better sounding instrument with distinct tonal differences not found in farmed wood.

Outlaw Drum's First Snare with WTS

The beautiful black walnut stave snare with the WTS hardware was one of Outlaw's absolute favorite builds, and the resulting instrument has blown people away with how great it sounds.

"It's about flow and energy..."

*How does the Welch Tuning System (WTS) work? A system of pulleys and cable brings both heads into tune with the turn of a single handle, similar to tuning a guitar string. Say goodbye to your drum key and multiple tuning points! Tune instantly and effortlessly, tune mid-performance, and never play an out of tune drum again! Learn more here.
